Dear Parents,
It is with great sadness that I write to tell you that Arlene Wood, the previous Headteacher of Moseley Primary School, has passed away.
Arlene was the Head of Moseley from 2003 until 2009. She joined the school at a very difficult time in its history when it had failed its Ofsted inspection and was in Special Measures. Arlene worked tirelessly to make improvements and she was so proud that the school was inspected only 9 months later and found to be good.
Guided by her strong faith, Arlene supported and grew a strong staff team that were well motivated and skilled to give Moseley’s children the absolute best. She had a tremendous sense of fun and loved to be surrounded by children.
Arlene skilfully led the design team that planned and later built the new school. The building was designed with children at its heart, Arlene would not compromise on putting children first. The building we have is her legacy; a measure of her commitment to, and ambition for the children of Coventry.
On a personal note, Arlene taught me much about the craft of Headship. We shared the Headship of the school from 2007 – 2009 before I was appointed on a fulltime basis from September 2009. For her support and encouragement, I will always be grateful.
With very best wishes,
Nikki Evans
Headteacher
