Year 1

What is Design Technology?

Year 1 have been looking into what design technology is and how it differs from art, discovering new vocabulary and designing and making a sliding mechanism.

Frame Structures

Year 1 have been exploring and experimenting with different frame structures. They have looked at natural and manufactured frame structures and thought about examples for each. The children had the opportunity to experiment with using straws to create their own structures in different ways and went onto designing and making a chair.
