Bringing learning to life through arts and culture
Dear Katie Dronfield,
Thank you for your submissions to Artsmark.
Your Statement of Commitment and Case Study have been assessed and we are delighted to inform you that Moseley Primary School has been awarded an Artsmark Gold Award. Congratulations!
We have made the following comment about your submissions:
Moseley Primary is to be commended for the commitment exhibited at a senior level, to providing a range of high quality cultural and artistic opportunities for pupils attending the school. You have successfully engaged with a range of partners including the local music hub to evaluate your present position and develop a suitable plan for development. Over the past two years you have successfully increased the range of opportunities for pupils; including digital technology strands, working with professional artists and increasing trips and performance occasions. These activities have enhanced arts provision for pupils, increased staff skills and raised pupils’ expectations. For future development you may wish to consider how you can start to share the good practice you have identified with other schools in the area. You may also wish to further develop case studies which could be used to identify the measurable effects arts and cultural activities can have on other areas of the curriculum including reading and writing.
Congratulations on your Artsmark Gold Award!
Arts Council England celebrates your ongoing commitment to arts and cultural education at a leadership level, and the opportunities established across your whole setting. Your children and young people are offered equal opportunity to plan, experience, participate in, and evaluate a broad range of high-quality arts and cultural activities, and you recognise the importance of development opportunities delivered by specialists for your staff that have measurable effects in these areas. You engage with a range of arts and cultural organisations and other settings, and can evidence the positive impact of these partnerships. Your children and young people have an opportunity to further develop their knowledge, skills and understanding of arts and culture, and you are working to share the good practice you have established.
Your award is valid for two years and will expire on 03 June 2021. Artsmark is a forward thinking and ongoing journey that evidences developments to arts and culture over time, therefore we recommend that you re-register soon and start planning for your next Artsmark journey, setting new stretching objectives and furthering your ambitions for arts and culture.
Once again, congratulations on your Artsmark Gold Award.
With warm wishes,
Emily Fletcher

Moseley Primary are our musical school of the month. Here are some of the amazing things they are doing....
Want to know why Moseley Primary is our Musical School of the month?
Every child from Year 2 to Year 6 receives specialist instrumental lessons every week including ukulele, fife, woodwind and brass
Fife and ukulele players performed at the Albany Theatre as part of our WCET Showcase last year
They host Musical Mixtures Wind Band on Tuesdays 4 – 5 pm – woodwind and brass players welcome to come along next term!
They are Music Mark School Members
They are currently working towards their Artsmark Award
Singing is a fundamental part of Moseley school Life and the children enjoy taking part in regular performances and singing assemblies.
All children sing every week in a singing assembly
The school choir performs at Young Voices every year. An opportunity to sing in one of the largest choirs in the world.
KS1 children enjoy taking part in Mornings of Music - a celebration of music provided by Coventry Music
The school put on regular performances for parents and children.
And even the staff are musical and regularly perform for the children in a staff choir and sometimes even playing instruments.
A perfect example of the brilliant music taking place at Mosley would be today's (Friday 21st December) year 5 performance where parents and pupils were treated to a Top of the Pops style musical history. The Year 5 pupils told about how music and culture had changed over the years and performed some of the well known christmas classics from the different decades, with a few solo's including an appearance from Elvis himself!! Then as a surprise ending, we were treated to beautiful performance from the staff choir, including some instrumental playing, including bells, cymbals, trumpets, drums and kazoos...all learnt specially for the performance.
Music is a joy to watch as Moseley and it shows just how much all the children and staff enjoy taking part!
Well done, you are worthy winner!
