Capturing Conflict (War Art)
In the Autumn term, children in Year 6 were learning about the Second World War. As part of this work, they were exploring ways to capture conflict in Art. They explored the war art of Charles Bell and used different techniques to create images that show the harsh reality of war.
Art from different cultures (Batik)
During the Spring term, Year 6 have been learning about cultural tradition in Art. They have investigated art from different cultures, looking at colours, patterns and textures. They have learnt about the life and art of Richard Kimbo and in particular his work with Batik. The children then designed and created their own batik art.
Ancient Greeks
As part of their topic on Ancient Greeks, the children in Year 6 have been exploring the use of patterns in Greek architecture and art. They have been creating intricate patterns, using examples to influence their creations. They then have been printing these to create a repeated pattern.
