Parents have the right to request that their child be withdrawn from some or all of sex education delivered as part of statutory RSE. At Moseley there are only two lessons in Year 6 which are classed as Sex Education and parents have a right to withdraw their child. These lessons are taught at the beginning of Summer Term 2.
The first lesson is about 'Conception' and in this lesson the children who have permission from parents to be withdrawn, can only be withdrawn from part of the lesson.
The second lesson is about 'Pregnancy and Birth' and the children who have permission from parents to be withdrawn, will be withdrawn from all of the lesson.
If you would like to withdraw your child from these lessons, then please fill out a Request for Withdrawal form. We may contact you to discuss your withdrawal, but the Head teacher will grant a request to withdraw a pupil from these sex education lessons.
A reminder of these lessons will be sent to Year 6 parents before these lessons are taught. If you wish to withdraw your child from these sex education lessons, then we ask that you only fill out a form when your child is in Year 6. All of the other year group's lessons are statutory, and children cannot be withdrawn from these lessons.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact school.
