Noro Virus Information

Dear Parents,

We have been asked by Public Health England to pass on information about the Winter Vomiting bug, known as Norovirus.

If your child is sick or has diarrhoea they must not attend school until 48 hours after the last bout. This is to stop the spread of infection. Schools are warm places, and although our school is very clean, it only takes one child to forget to wash their hands after using the toilet and germs can easily spread.

If your child is unwell at school, please collect them as quickly as possible.

Once home, keep them warm and try to encourage them to drink plenty of fluids.

The virus, which includes diarrhoea and vomiting, usually lasts for 1 – 2 days.

Give infant paracetamol or ibuprofen according to the instructions on the bottle.

Handwashing is the most effective way of controlling the spread of infection, please talk to your child about the importance of washing hands regularly.

Thank you for your help
