Hello,
Firstly, can I say how terribly sorry we are that school is unable to open today. I know how disappointing this is for children, parents and the staff but as always, the safety of everyone in the building must come first.
In the early hours of Sunday morning I received a telephone call from our Security Unit who patrol the school to say that they could smell gas. The gas supplier was contacted and at 3:00am the gas had to be disconnected for the safety of everyone in the local area.
School staff and gas engineers were on site for several hours on Sunday and we were optimistic that the problem could be rectified. However, this was not the case. The leak is somewhere between the meter in the staff car park and the boiler house. This is a distance of approximately 100 metres.
Coventry City Council, who own the school site, have been liaising with contractors and the soonest they can begin the work is today. Currently we are still without gas which means we have no hot water for hand washing and no facility to cook or prepare meals in a hygienic way.
As soon as we know more details we will be in touch with you.
Once again, I am so sorry for the inconvenience that this has caused.
