  • COVID-19 – update 20th March 2020

    Fri 20 Mar 2020

    Dear Parents

As of tonight School is closed to all children other than the most vulnerable and the children of Key Workers. This is upsetting for all of us, thank you for your understanding at this time.

    From Monday:
School will be operating a Childcare Club – we are calling it Triumph Club. It will open at 8:15 and close at 3:30pm. This club is for children who receive an invitation as they meet one of the Government’s criteria.

Key Worker Parents who have no childcare alternative and responded to our email by the 1pm deadline, will have received a letter to invite their child to attend. Eligible children will be sent home with (or emailed) a golden ticket for Triumph Club. Only children with a ticket will be able to attend. This care club will be staffed by a skeleton staff and the children will not be doing lessons.

Free School Meals children’s parents have received a text and email to say that they can come to school at 12:15 to collect a packed lunch from the school office.

All other children are to remain at home. All families need to practise Social Distancing and must not be meeting up with other families. The reason schools are closed is to reduce the amount of social contact and limit the spread of the virus.

School has set work for children who have to stay at home. This work can be accessed from the school website: moseleyprimaryschool.co.uk then by visiting the children’s tab – home learning – year group. In addition to this, children can all use Seesaw to communicate directly with their teacher. Teachers will use Seesaw to set tasks and activities.

It has been a really challenging time for school and I cannot tell how amazing the staff have been! Parents also have been very supportive and the kind messages that we have received have been truly appreciated – thank you.

Thank you for your support and understanding.

  • COVID-19 – Letter to Parents 19.03.2020

    Thu 19 Mar 2020

    Dear Parents

The situation that the country is facing is changing so rapidly at the moment – we are trying really hard to keep you up to date with the changes and what they mean for you and your children.

Following the Prime Minister’s announcement yesterday evening, Wednesday 18th March 2020, the Government has changed what it expects schools to do; Schools are now to offer reduced access to pupils until further notice in order to prioritise the needs of the most vulnerable young people and the children of key workers.

This means that for most of our children school will be closed from Friday evening – this might be for several weeks and even months. School will provide work for children to do while they are at home.

We are still waiting for details and guidance, as soon as we receive this we will share this with you. School will also be open to the children of Key Workers – currently there is no definition of ‘key workers’ but we assume it to mean – Police, Fire, NHS, Education Staff, Social Workers, Delivery Drivers and Shop Workers.

It is really important that you understand that this list may not be complete or accurate – we are just trying to get ahead of the game. Hannah and Mr Timms are going to start to ring around all parents to establish how many are ‘key workers’ so that we can start to plan for the number of children that will be in school from Monday.

Please be aware that the children who come to school may be in mixed age classes and may not be following their normal plan of work while we try to establish a more sustainable position.

Thank you for your support and understanding.

  • COVID-19 Letter to Parents 18.03.2020

    Wed 18 Mar 2020

    Dear Parents

Since I last wrote the Covid-19 situation has changed. Please be reassured that we are doing everything we can to keep school open and to keep children and staff safe.
The change in Government advice has obviously had an impact on our school community.

It is really important that you follow the most recent advice and, if your household are self-isolating for 14 days then you must remain inside your home. Please don’t come to school to tell us that you are self-isolating, simply phone us to let us know.
Currently, there are no confirmed cases connected to school. However, there are pupils and staff who are having to self-isolate as a result of having contact with someone with a cough or a temperature. We also have some staff that fall into the ‘vulnerable category’ meaning that they have to stay at home for the next 12 weeks.
Staff absence clearly will have an impact on what we can offer as a school. For now, we are trying to continue with the curriculum and managing to cover all classes but this may change in the future – if it does we will let you know.

After this week there will be no after school clubs. The two remaining sessions will be postponed or we will organise refunds.

All trips, including Yr2 swimming are now cancelled as are other school events.
From today we will not let any visitors or parents into the building – please understand that we are doing this to prevent further risk.

If we get to a position where school has no option but to close, work for the children will be available to be accessed through our website. Teachers will still be working and will communicate with you directly through email.

As advice and guidance changes I will, of course, update you further.

Thank you for your support and understanding.

  • COVID-19 Letter to Parents

    Mon 16 Mar 2020

    Dear Parents

While schools remain open I want to reassure you that we are doing absolutely everything within our power to keep children and staff safe.
Everyone who enters the building is expected to wash their hands to prevent the spread of germs from outside.

The Cleaning Team are doing an amazing job and are using chlorine based solutions to clean all surfaces, doors and door handles.
We have decided that until further notice we will not be holding assemblies to limit the close contact in one room.

As per the guidance from the DfE, we are not taking children out on trips or visits, this includes sporting events. As we do not use public transport for swimming we are continuing with this for Yr2 until we are advised otherwise. The evidence suggests that the chlorine in the water is beneficial.

We will continue with after school clubs for this week but, as guidance changes daily, please be advised that this might change.

We are no longer able to give children cups for water during the day (as these cannot be cleaned adequately between uses) so please send your child in with an individual water bottle for their personal use.

We are continuing to make children wash their hands at several points during the day and before they leave to come home. On Friday night we changed the soap as we are aware that some children developed a rash on their hands. This should now be fine.

We would ask that you all follow the Government advice and if you or your child develops a new, continuous cough or a high temperature that you stay at home for 7 days and phone school to let us know.

As advice and guidance changes I will, of course, update you further.

Thank you for your support and understanding.
